Pat (Patricia) O’Neill grew up in Tallaght Village and spent all her life there. She recalls her father’s trade as a carpenter. Her family was deeply involved in political affairs, her father strongly supported Fianna Fail and her mother Fine Gael. Her memories stretch back to the 1932 Eucharistic Congress, the Hungry Thirties, caused by De Valera’s economic policies and the Emergency Period. She also speaks about her working life in Urney’s sweet factory and her memories of changes in the village of Tallaght are all revealed in this recording.
