This recording was made at the O’Donoghue home, in an area farmed by the family for many generations. Frances O’Donoghue’s maiden name was Clark, and she was originally from Horsepasstown, Ballymore Eustace. She was brought up there in a little cottage by the side of the road, a quarter of a mile from Poulaphuca. She speaks in this interview of her upbringing by her aunt, and her childhood days. Frances talks about her memories of the steam train, religious practices, the dances and the superstitions which were rife in earlier days.
