Christy Hughes worked for 60 years in the undertaking business. Much of this recording deals with the earlier part of his life, and his recollections of his uncle Thomas Murphy, an officer with the IRA during the 1916-22 period. He also talked about his time working for the McCulloughs from the time he left school until 1939. He then worked on the railway in maintenance for four years. His long memories of Porterstown were recounted and he also spoke about many aspects of the undertaking business.
