The history of the town of Tralee down through the ages are detailed and told to me in this most interesting interview. Russell explains the growth and development of the town from the Gearaldines, to the Elizabethan Plantation to Tralee as an eighteenth-century market town. Other topics discussed included the periodic sacking of the town through the centuries, the Spanish Armada and Walter Raleigh.  Russell also describes the demolition of the castle at the top of Denny Street c. 1820s, the rubble of which was used in the construction of the Georgian houses in the street.
